Udupi, Dec 4: The Bar Association, Udupi organised Advocates' Day at the Udupi court complex, on Saturday, December 3.
Justice Anand Byrareddy, permanent judge of the Karnataka High Court, inaugurated the event. He addressed the gathering and said, the day observes the birth anniversary of Dr Rajendra Prasad.
Regarding the legal system, justice Anand said, "At present, people need a revolution to get quicker results. The youth should work towards bringing this revolution in the legal system. Adversarial litigation must be stopped, and the entire legal system changed. There are a large number of cases even now at the court, which needs a quick solution. When this is solved, people will approach judicial proceedings with respect and confidence."
Guest of honour C M Dhananjaya, chairman and advocate of Karnataka State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited, Bengaluru, contributed Rs 5 lac towards building a library.
In his address, Dhananjaya said, "There are no limitations for an advocate. If one has willpower, commitment, hard-work and sincerity he can achieve anything that he wants to be."
The guests distributed prizes to winners of the sports event.
Special guest, Subhash Kowdichar, vice chairman, Karnataka State Bar Council also spoke on occasion. Rajeshwari V Patil additional district and sessions judge, Udupi, presided over the programme. Renold Praveen Kumar, general secretary of Bar Association, Udupi, welcomed the gathering. Dhananjay K was also present at the programme.
