Udupi, Nov 18: “Demonetisation of Rs 500 and 1000 notes were not in favour of poor people of the country but certainly working in favour of affluent business classes. PM Modi has betrayed common people, farmers and agricultural workers of the nation. He promised to bring back black money deposited in other counties. But he failed to do it, so he has started a new drama by banning Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes,” said Sachin Meega, president of KPCC’s Kisan-Khet Mazdoor cell while addressing  a press meet on Friday, November 18.

Sachin Meega further alleged, “Modi saved many of his well-wishers and friends who helped him during the elections by writing off their debts.”

“SBI has written off various loans worth more than 7,000 crores owned by wilful defaulters that include Rs 1201 crores loans of Mallya. Modi has written off various loans of Rs 1.41 crores which were kept pending in 29 nationalized banks across the nation.”

“Modi also plans to write off the fine of Rs 200 crores which was imposed by UPA government on Adani group of company for damaging the environment. While many farmers are committing suicide for bad debts, the move of PM to write off debts of defaulters is a gross injustice to poor farmers.”

“The Kisan cell condemns this and also demands to clear the bad debts of farmers. The cell has decided to gerao the Parliamentary House in Delhi soon,” he further said.

Criticizing the public meeting about UPCL expansion recently held at Yellur panchayat, he said, “The District Commissioner of Udupi and Adani group of company played game at public hearings. Local people and farmers did not get a chance to express their opinion.”

“DC T Venkatesh should visit the affected areas and prepare a scrutinized report based on UPCL problem,” he stressed.

Anaji Anjappa, State chief secretary, Nagraj, State secretary, Shashidhar Shetty, president Kisan unit, Raghavendra Nayak and Sundar Poojary were present.
