Mumbai, Jan 11 (mb): Twelve of the 14 suspects arrested in the Juhu molestation case blamed the media on Wednesday for their troubles, saying they just happened to be in the crowd at Juhu Tara Road on new year’s eve and that they were not the actual molesters.

The youth addressed the press on Wednesday in the compound of Siddhivinayak Cooperative Housing Society in Vile Parle (East), where all of them live.

One of the youths, Amit Kapoor, a relationship manager in an insurance company, said he celebrated the new year with friends in Navi Mumbai. The rest insisted they did not even touch the women.

The youths admitted they were drunk but said they were “under control”. “The women were drunk and the couples were smooching on the road,” said Derrick Jadhav, who works in an advertising agency. “No one is pointing fingers at them.”

According to Jadhav, he and 10 of his friends from the building went to celebrate the new year on Juhu beach. While returning, they were drawn to some commotion near the JW Marriott. “There were around 100 men there,” said Derrick.

“When we went near, we got pushed inside the crowd.”

He said everything happened before their eyes. But he said they could not identify the real molesters.

Trailers of future shock?
