Mangaluru, Oct 28: The Mulky police, who succeeded in solving a case of theft which happened at Immanuel House owned by Letitia D'Souza at Balkunje near Mulky a week back, have arrested the accused. The person whom they have apprehended for this crime happens to be Harish Poojary (42), a home guard who functions as beach police during the day at Kaup beach.
The gold ornaments stolen from the house of Letitia have been recovered from his possession, police personnel said.
The policemen got information about the activity of Harish after dusk. When he was taken into custody and subjected to incessant questioning, he confessed to have committed the above theft, police said. Apart from gold ornaments worth about Rs 1.38 lac and other valuables he had stolen from the house at Balkunje, a Mahindra Duro two-wheeler that was used for the theft stands confiscated.
During the interrogation, Harish also reportedly confessed to have committed theft at Bellibettu within Padubidri police station limits during 2015.
A team led by station house officer of Mulky, Anantapadmanabha and sub-inspectors, Chandrashekharaiah and Shantappa R, made the arrest.
