Mangaluru, Oct 24: "We have been pained by the statement from former union minister Janardhan Poojary which says that JD(S) national chief Deve Gowda has conspired to destabilize the congress party. We strongly condemn his remarks,” said Mohammed Kunhi, the district president of JD(S).
Addressing the media persons in the city on Monday, October 24, he said "We respect Janardhana Poojary as an honest politician but the politicians like Janardhan Poojary, former MP Vishwanath are destabilizing the Congress party through their statements. The statement made by him against Deve Gowda is highly condemnable and he must realise that it is Congress party which poached JD(S) leaders. 15 ministers in Siddaramaiah cabinet are from JD(S) background. It is Congress party which used JD(S) votes during the recent Rajya Sabha elections. "
“Deve Gowda is a person who responded to chief minister Siddaramaih’s request during the Cauvery issue. He also supported Siddaramaiah. Poojary must realise that he has been cornered by his own disciples due to his wrong statements." Mohammed Kunhi added.
Speaking on the occasion the JD(S), DK and Udupi district in-charge and former minister Amarnath Shetty said "JD(S) or its chief Deve Gowda does not have any intention to destabilize Congress. Even Ivan D'souza and Suresh Ballal were JD(S) leaders once, who later on joined Congress. Congress is being destabilized by the internal clashes of the party"
"The national party chief will launch a Jatha on the issues of the rubber and areca planters soon. The Jatha will take place at Puttur and the date is yet to finalised. The price of rubber has fallen down and the governments are not taking interest to support the planters. Hence the party chief has decided to support the planters." Amarnath Shetty added.
Speaking about Yettinahole project, Shetty pointed out that both BJP and Congress who approved the project are working to murder river Nethravati through this project.
MCC corporator Aziz Kudroli, district JD(S) youth wing president Akshith Suvarna and others were present at the occasion.
