Sitharaman calls for push to India's IPR activities

New Delhi, Oct 19 (IANS): Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday said that Indias intellectual property rights (IPR)-related activities need great traction.

Sitharaman was speaking at the launch of the logo of Cell for IPR Promotion & Management (CIPAM).

The CIPAM has been created as a professional body under the aegis of Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion to take forward the implementation of the National IPR Policy, which was approved by the government in May this year.

The logo has been designed keeping in mind the slogan of the National IPR Policy: "Creative India, Innovative India", according to an official statement.

While the logo stands for "Cell for IPR Promotion & Management", the letters "I" and "P" have been stylized to represent "Intellectual Property" as well, the statement said.
