Bengaluru, Nov 2: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has issued a strict order to officials to ensure that all the notices sent to farmers pertaining to Wakf land issues must be withdrawn and that farmers should not be put to any inconveniences.

The Chief Minister, who held a high-level meeting involving senior officials from the Revenue Department, Minority Welfare Department, and the Wakf Board, in Bengaluru on Saturday said farmers should not be disturbed under no circumstances.

Siddaramaiah expressed strong dissatisfaction over recent actions taken by certain officials and highlighted that the JD(S) and BJP were allegedly using the Wakf issue for political gain, potentially disturbing peace in the state.

He also appealed to the public to disregard any misinformation and called on officials to ensure the matter is handled sensitively.

The Chief Minister also directed that any unauthorized modifications to the land records (pahani) without prior notice or legal procedure should be immediately nullified.

The meeting was attended by senior officials including Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister H K Patil, Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, Chief Secretary Rajendra Kataria, Wakf Board CEO Jilani and others.
