Hassan, Oct 14: It is said that an assistant director in the department of animal husbandry had opted for voluntary retirement, having been frustrated at repeated threats posed by the minister for Aanimal Husbandry, Fisheries and Horticulture, A Manju. The assistant director of the Animal Husbandry Department who left government service was H S Mohandas, brother of Hassan JDS MLA, H S Prakash.
To settle political scores, it is said, Manju posed threat to Mohandas nine months back, and made allegations of corruption. This came to light during the press conference addressed by local MLA, H S Prakash, on Thursday October 13.
During the press conference, Prakash alleged that the district in-charge minister had shifted the clinic as a part of political vendetta. When newsmen probed further, Prakash added that after he became minister, Manju had also harassed his brother, Dr Mohandas. When the media persons sought details, he released an audio clip in which the minister could be heard posing threats to the assistant director.
Dr Mohandas obtained voluntary retirement during April this year, 18 months ahead of his superannuation. He said that he could not tolerate the minister speaking ill of his parents, family etc. He said he was sure that the minister, who was allotted the department for which he himself worked, would continue to harass him, and therefore, had opted for voluntary retirement after discussing the issue with family members.
