Mangaluru, Oct 8: Police personnel from Ernakulam visited Suratkal, and took into custody four persons from Kerala who were hiding in a house in Suratkal here, with support from local police. They reportedly had murdered a person at a place within Kaladi police station limits near Ernakulam and fled from there. The Ernakulam police also took into custody the man who provided shelter to the murder- accused.
In a murder which occurred on September 26 on the road near Sanskrit University of Kaladi near Ernakulam, a person identified as Sanel(32) was killed. When Sanel was moving on his bike, car-borne persons had knocked down his vehicle by hitting it with their car and then hacked him to death after he fell.
The accused after that came to the city and were provided shelter by a person name Raghunath from Kodikere Suratkal. Kerala police said that they could find only four out of the five accused in this murder case and that they are looking out for the fifth one. The arrested accused are Tony (23), and Brindesh (35) from Ernakulam, Eldo (35) from Angamali, Ritesh (35) from Aluwa, and Raghunath (43) from Suratkal. All of them were taken for investigation on Friday morning.
Sanel was a member of a gang involved in criminal activities. The murder-accused were also his partners in that gang. Over some differences, Sanel had severed his connection with the gang. As he was thought to be working as a police informer, the gang members decided to eliminate him, it is said.
As Raghunath has been accused of involvement in the murder, a rowdy sheet stands created in his name at Suratkal police station. He has been an accused in Prakash murder case of 2014. The victim, in this case, Prakash, also was an accused in the murder of Shivaraj from Kodikere. Raghunath also faces a murder tempt case in city rural station and case under arms act in Vittal police station.
Although no one knows how Raghunath came into contact with the four accused, it is thought that he came in contact with them when he fled from the city after the murder of Prakash and stayed underground for long in Kerala.
