Udupi, Oct 6: United Sports Patronage Association is to organize 'Kar Kabaddi-2016' championship for the first time with the support and guidance of Dakshina Kannada Amateur Kabaddi Association on Sunday October 9 at Gandhi Maidan, Karnad Mulki here.
This is a charity event, whose main focus is to advance education, relieve poverty, sickness, help the aged, the disabled and join hands to provide accommodation to the homeless.
MLA of Mulki Moodbidri region, Abhayachandra Jain, youth Congress president of Dakshina Kannada, Mithun Rai, Udupi district in-charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj, MP Nalin Kumar, state health minister U T khader and state forest minister Ramanath Rai will grace the occasion.
Event title sponsor Sallauddeen Salman will be chief guest, chairman SABB (Saleh Ayed Balharith Est) from Saudi Arabia and other local members of Mulki town panchayat will be present at the inaugural ceremony.
According to the association nearly 16 teams from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada and Kasargod will participate.
A felicitation programme for active social workers will be organized.
The event consists of recreational activities such as a unique laser show, performed by a famous troupe from Mumbai and an event by Smile Media Entertainment, Padubidri to encourage the participants as well as the audience.
The association will award the winning team with amazing prizes. The winning team will get Rs 55,555 and a trophy, runners up will get Rs 33,333 and a trophy, winners of third place will get Rs 11,111 and a trophy, and fourth prize winners will get a consolation prize of Rs 5,555 and a trophy.
Individual prizes will be offered for best rider, best defender and best all rounder.
A crowd of 3,000 is expected to attend the championship.

United Sports Patronage Association is a wing of United Social Patronage Association which was formed by a few likeminded people sharing similar opinions and interests of wholeheartedly helping the needy. USPA was established with the intention of relieving poverty, sickness and needs of people from below poverty line. Its mission is to help children aged 10 to 18 with conditions affecting their social, communication and learning abilities so as to achieve their potential for a happier and more fulfillng life.
The USPA desires to conduct this event every year towards a social cause.
