Udupi, Oct 5: The public education department, Brahmavar block and LVP aided higher primary school Puttur, Brahmavar zone jointly organized Hobali level ‘Kridakuta 2016’ for higher primary students under 14 years at LVP school grounds on Tuesday October 4.
As a mark of respect to the guests, sports persons performed a march-past.
Florin Mascarenhas, principal of LVP School welcomed the gathering. Neri Cornelio, president of old student’s association hoisted the flag.
Old students of the school, Kavya and Deepak carried the sports torch from LVT temple which was followed by oath taking from all the participants.
Chandrakant Naik, counsellor of Gopalpura ward inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.
He said, "Today the ground has been prepared well for this event. It is not a help extended, as I am an old student of this school. It is my duty of taking upon the responsibility and my way of paying my respects."
Fr Prakash Castelino, management head of Milagres College Kallianpur, said, “Children should play games with a sportsman spirit. A good game makes a person hard. At the same time we must concentrate on education.”
Dr Neri Cornelio, president of the old students' association and president of this programme said, "This year the principal of the school Florin Mascarenhas has won the best teacher award for her good services. She has played a major role in conducting this sports meet. Students must participate with zeal. The first and second place winners will be representing at taluk level."
Fr Prakash Castelino, distributed prizes to the winners of march-past. The first prize was bagged by the host school LVP Puttur and second prize to B M Parkala.
19 schools and 300 sports students participated in the Hobli level sports. There were 13 events organized and categorized as 100 meter, 200 meter, 400 meter, 600 meter, 800 meter hurdles, shot put, discus throw, long jump, high jump, 4 x 100 relay.
Sathish Chandra Shetty proposed the vote of thanks and Sathish shetty compered the programme.
The winners list is as below:
English Medium School, Kemmannu bagged the first prize in 4 x 100 meter relay, Nirmala Higher Primary School, Brahmavar secured the second prize and LVP Puttur Higher Primary School, Brahmavar received the third place in relay.
Yashas M from English Medium School, Kemmannu, Manish from Government higher primary school and Mayur from LVP Puttur secured first, second and third prize in 100 meters race event.
Yashas M from Carmel English medium school, Kemmannu, Deshraj, Government Model Higher Primary School, Hanumantnagar and Vedas Carmel, English Medium School Kemmannu received the first, second and third prizes in the 200 meter race.
In the 400 meter race, Manoj MJC Manipal, Rama, Government Higher Primary School, Badanidiyur and Vishal from Puttur secured first, second and third prizes respectively.
In 600 meters, Deshraj, Government Model Higher Primary School, Hanumantnagar, Manoj from MJC Manipal and Akshay from LVP Puttur won the first, second and third prizes respectively.
Sujan from LVP, Puttur, Varun, Government Higher Primary School, Badanidiyur and Manjunath from Government Model Higher Primary School, Hanumantnagar received first, second and third prizes in the 80 meter hurdles respectively.
Deshraj from Government Model Higher Primary School, Hanumantnagar, Krishna from Government Higher Primary School, Badanidiyur and Roydan Quadras from St Philomina, Kemmannu received the first, second and third prizes in high jump respectively.
In long jump, Yashas M from Carmel English Medium School, Kemmannu, Kumar from Government Model Higher Primary School, Hanumantnagar and Rama from Government Higher Primary School, Badanidiyur secured first, second and third prizes.
Manoj from MJC Manipal, Vivan S Naik from B M English Medium School, Parkala and Manish from Government Higher Primary School, Badanidiyur bagged first, second and third prizes in shot-put.
Vivan S Naik, B M English Medium School, Parkala, Afan Daru Salam, English Medium School, Hoode and Chandresh, B M English Medium School, Parkala bagged first, second and third prizes in discus throw.
As many as 20 different sports events were organized. J C Purandar, president of JCI Kallianpur and Yuvaraj were present at the valedictory ceremony and distributed prizes to all the winners.
