Udupi, Oct 4: In an accident which occurred late evening on Monday October 3, a woman pillion rider of a motor bike lost her life after the wheels of the two-wheeler on which she was travelling skidded. It is said that reckless driving and over speeding caused the accident.
Maxim Joseph was riding his motor bike bearing registration No KA 20 - Y 0582 with a lady, identified as Dolly Ashakumari, in the pillion when the wheels of the bike skidded near the poultry farm at Nellikatte at around 7.15 pm. Both fell off and sustained injuries. Vincent Fernandes from Kattingeri village of Moodubelle, who was passing by the spot on his motor bike, with the help of locals, admitted both the injured into KMC Hospital Manipal as inpatients.
Dolly did not respond well to treatment and died some time later at the hospital. A case about the incident was registered at Manipal police station based on a complaint filed by Vincent Fernandes.
