Udupi, Oct 4: Manipal School of Art, Manipal and Chitrakala Mandira here organized an exhibition of paintings by the students of Manipal School of Art, Manipal at Vibhuthi art gallery, Chitrakala Mandira Jangama Matt near the city bus stand, on Monday October 3.

Prof K P Rao, Manipal, inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp and said, “Art is an exciting field of learning. Just as a little child learns basic things in school, we need to cultivate the habit of learning art and painting. Without the help of gurus, one cannot learn to draw such beautiful and meaningful paintings.”
Dr Virupaksha Devaramane, Baliga Memorial Hospital, Doddanagudde, here said, “Not everyone can paint such beautiful paintings. These students who did these paintings are blessed with artistic skills. Art has the capacity to cure disease.”
Janardana Achar, principal Poornachandra Public School, Channarayapatna, Nagaraja Acharya, K L Bhatt were present during the inaugural programme.
Nearly 50 paintings, drawn by 12 students demonstrating landscape, thread art work etc were kept on exhibition.
The exhibition will be open for visitors from October 3 to 7.
