Mangalore, Dec 10: An uniform distribution ceremony for its employees, was organized by the South Canara Central Co-operative Bank Limited (SCCCBL) here in the city on Saturday, December 8.
From January 1, 2008 employees of the SCCCBL right from the managing director to the personnel in the lowest rank in the organization will begin wearing uniform.
N C Muniyappa, managing director of Karnataka State Cooperative Apex Bank (KSCAB) after distributing the uniform material to employees and scholarships to their children declared that the aim of this was that a uniform culture will bring in some discipline in the cooperative banks. Moreover, he even informed that there were plans afoot to introduce the uniform system in other district central cooperative banks too.
Further he added that at a time when the foreign banks were arriving on the Indian soil in a big way, it is imperative for the cooperative sector not to remain backward. Uniform is a sign of unity among the employees, he said.
The Centre's acceptance of the recommendations of the Vaidyanathan Committee report, has given a much needed boost to the co-operative sector. This report dealt at length on the reforms to be carried out in the co-operative sector especially the banking sector.
K. Praveenraj Udupa, assistant general manager, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NBARD), was the chief guest on the occasion.
