Udupi, Dec 6: More funds should be provided by the government and governmental agencies to children’s drama troupe, said Sridhar Hande, head, Saligrama Makkala Mela on Wednesday December 5.
He was speaking at the inaugural function of the “Male Billu”, makkala natakotsava (children’s drama festival) organized by the regional resource centre of National School of Drama, Bangalore and MGM College, Manipal at MGM College premises.
He further said that good dramas were produced by various children’s drama troupes, but unfortunately owing to heavy costs they could not be staged for more than two times.
Many people could watch this drama in different places if some financial support was given to them. The children too could never take part in these dramas, as they lacked encouragement. The parents did not encourage them owing to various examination pressure on children, he said. But when cricket matches were telecast both the parents as well as their children watch the complete telecast of these matches. It is incorrect from the part of the parents to discourage the creative skills of their children, in fact they should encourage such skills, he added.
