Mangalore, Dec 4:  Central Administrative Reforms Commission (ARC) chairman M Veerappa Moily elucidated here on Monday, Dec 3 that "Institutions should not forget their social responsibilities."

He was speaking to a gathering after distribution of the 'Academic Excellency Award' instituted by the Yenepoya Moideen Kunhi Memorial Educational and Charitable Trust at the Yenepoya Medical and Dental College auditorium  at Deralakatte. He opined that there should be greater emphasis on accessibility of education to all. Everyone has talent but only through easy access to education one can be successful in his life, he advised.
 
In this context he quoted "uncage the caged human resources' and talent pool which is vastly available. With particular regard to the quality of education in some institutions he said that 25% of educated youth were not employed in the country. Time is the main competitor and one has to compete with it in order to achieve one's goals, he advised. 
  
Moreover, he felt that there were serious drawbacks faced by the education sector and the state government should address these drawbacks. And urged for bridging the gap between policy and implementation. He wanted a second wave of nation building to be initiated and so said "A spirit which can promote talent towards success should be ignited". 
  
Yenepoya Foundation chairman Y Mohammed Kunhi presided over the programme. Former education minister B A Mohideen, Ullal MLA U T Khadar, Yenepoya Medical and Dental College chairman Y Abdulla Kunhi, Islamic Academy of Education trustee, B Ahmed Hajee and director prof P C M Kunhi were present on the occasion.
