Mangalore: MCC Officials Demolish Two Buildings At Pumpwell

Mangalore, Dec 4: The town planning officers of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) have resumed the demolition of unauthorized structures within the city, once again.


The MCC authorities here demolished two buildings on Monday, December 3rd morning. As a direct consequence to which the owners of the buildings had to incur heavy loss. The MCC officials furnished the information that the first shed they demolished was the one which was located near the Pumpwell weigh bridge which had been in existence for the past several years.


Another shed was the one which had also been built illegally. It was built in the side as a temporary structure while the construction of a building there, was taking place. Later even after the said building was constructed, the shed was not demolished by the owners of the building. Instead, they started utilizing it illegally for storage purposes, explained the authorities.

    demolishing unauthorised buildings is ok. what does MCC has to say about the so called authorised buildings (wedding halls in residential areas) which do not have any parking facility,drainage facility and forever disturb the neighbourhood exam going students with loud music. incidentally some of these have been built very recently.

    This is just a eye wash to the public. There are multiple illegal constructions are visible and the MCC always goes to demolish small sheds or walls just to put up a FAKE show for the public. There is a building next to Janatha Bazar which almost touches the power lines,without any setbacks. Local news paper published the story of the building, notices are served but the building is already occupied. This is high end corruption at work. Town planning should look for more sheds around the city to demolish.

    MCC should demolish all the un-authorized buildings provided these building belongs to a single person. But if the innocent people have paid for these buildings without knowing these buildings are illegal, then authority should either compensate them collecting money from the building owners or turn such buildings into legal ones provided they do not obstruct the development. Also, if the people paid knowingly that the buiding is illegal, then it is their own problem. Everybody should check the documents with a lawyer before paying.
