Mangalore, Nov 25: The doctors too have now come out to give their support to the on-going protest against delay in starting of passenger trains between Mangalore and Bangalore. The doctors expressed their solidarity to the relay hunger strike being organized by the Mangalore Railway Development Action committee under the leadership of convenor PV Mohan near the deputy commissioner’s office in city here on Sunday November 25.
In the meet Dr Shantaram Shetty, eminent orthopaedician and dean of KS Hegde medical academy said that neglecting to provide basic infrastructure facilities to citizens is an unpardonable crime. According to him the failure on part of the government in providing infrastructure would result in the collapse of overall development of the state.
Other medical organizations ike the Indian Medical Association South Kanara chapter too extended their support l. Its president Dr Sathish Bhandary giving the association’s assurance of support to the protest said that the fight would continue till the passenger train started running from Mangalore to Bangalore.
Lions district governor HG Venkatesh, chairman Tharanath Shetty, unit presidents PS Prabhakar, GR Shetty, K Mohan Kamath, Ram Mohan Alva, Ashok Shet, HC Shetty, Dr Bhaskar Shetty, members of Rishi Samskriti Vidya Kendra and Dalit Sangharsha Samiti too participated in the hunger strike which entered its 14 day on Sunday.
