Mangalore, Nov 20: ‘Mitrotsav’ a felicitation ceremony will be held at Town Hall, in the city on Wednesday November 21, announced Vithal Bhandary, organizer of the ceremony and editor of ‘Savitha Mitra’, a Kannada monthly here at the press conference on Monday November 19.
The felicitation ceremony will be inaugurated by Sri Devananda Swamiji of Odiyoor Math. The programme will be presided over by Sara Aboobaker, prolific writer and recipient of Dana Chintamani and Kannada Saurabha Awards. The special edition of ‘Savitha Mitra’ will be released by Chandrakala Nandavara, renowned writer and principal of Ganapathy Junior College, he added.
The chief guests will be Sr Carissima AC, secretary, the Apostolic Carmel Educational Trust, Karnataka, Maina A Shetty, secretary, Sri Devi Educational Trust, Radha Rao, advocate, Indira Srinivas Gowda, director, Excellent Coaching Class and Sarojini S Devadiga, former member, Karnataka state social welfare advising committee, he elaborated.
Harikrishna Punaroor, former president, Karnataka Kannada Sahitya Parishat, N Sitaram, managing trustee, Sri Subrahmanya Temple, Dr U D Nayak, retired medical officer, Wenlock Hospital, Rajashree, member, Mangalore City Corporation, M K Sadashivayya, state president, All-India Document writers' Association and M Ramanna Poojary, president, Yuva Vahini, Mangalore Unit, will be special invitees, he added.
Savitha Mitra Dr Rajkumar award will be presented to 23 students who have passed in Kannada with highest marks besides other achievers in literature and story writing. The entertainment programmes by Talents Group, Moodbidri and ‘Onjappe Jokulu’, a musical Tulu drama, will be held as part of the ceremony, he said.
