Senior Citizens Home Inaugurated: A unit of Shraddha trust, namely, the Krishna Kumar Memorial Home for Senior Citizens (KKMHSC), was inaugurated on Thursday November 15.
The old age home was inaugurated by a special child from Puttur, Shashidhar Shenoy. Surathkal MLA Krishna Palemar and Shri Ganesha Seva Samiti president Mahabala Marla were the chief guests.

Free Health Camp: A free health check-up camp for diagnosis of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) for patients suffering from chronic cough, winter bronchitis, breathlessness and a history of exposure to tobacco smoke, dust, chemicals, kitchen smoke or fuel fumes etc, was jointly organized by the KMC Hospital and Cipla Limited at the KMC, Attavar in the city on November 14.
The camp between 9 am to 1 pm and 2 pm to 4 pm was held to commemorate the World COPD Day. This was earlier informed by KMC Allergy and Chest Diseases department head Dr Ramesh Chandra Sahoo.
According to Dr Sahoo “COPD is the fourth leading cause of death worldwide and will be one among the first three diseases to claim maximum number of lives by 2020.”
Weightlifter No More: M Krishnappa (72) well-known powerlifting champion and international referee died of heart failure here on Wednesday, November 14.
Krishnappa was the president and founder member of the city Balanjaneya Gymnasium. He served in different capacities in the field of powerlifting, weightlifting and body-building for more than half a decade. He was the treasurer of the Karnataka Power Lifting Association and vice-president of the Indian Power Lifting Federation, Jamshedpur.
He is survived by three sons and two daughters.
