Mangalore, Nov 13: Fifteenth state-level children’s science convention will be held at Pilikula Nisargadhama (Pilikula Wild Life Sanctuary), near here from November 16 to November 18, in order to provide a stage for the students between the age-group of 10 to 17 years, to exhibit their creativity and experimental spirit.
The convention will be held in association with Karnataka state Science Parishat, Pilikula regional Science centre and would be attended by around one thousand students from all over the state.
The convention will be held under the theme of ‘Bio-diversity-nature’s conservation, for the betterment of Mankind’.
The convention will be inaugurated by D r C G Patil, director, master-control facility of ISRO, in Hassan during the function to be held at the open grounds of Pilikula Nisargadhama. It will be presided over by Suratkal MLA Krishna Palemar.
Prof K M Kaveriappa, vice-chancellor, Mangalore University, will deliver the key-note address.
Kavita Dinesh, president, Moodushedde Gram Panchayat (GP), Vinod Mada, Zilla Panchayat member, will be the chief guests present, at the occasion.
Anvita K, the student of Indraprasta Vidhyalaya and recipient of science award’06, will be present.
Dr Indrani Karunasagar, will be delivering special lecture on the topic, ‘the challenges and opportunities in science’ at 5-00 p m on Friday November 16. The valedictory ceremony will be held at 3-00 p m on Sunday November 18, presided over by Zilla Panchayat president, K P Sucharita Shetty.
G Kumar, Public Instruction department commissioner, will be the chief guest, at the occasion.
State environment and botany department secretary, Arvind Bannu, will present the talent awards to the winners.
As part of special events, KMF will be organizing quiz and intellectual Narendra Nayak and friends will be staging miracle episodes. Moreover, children’s troupe will stage yakshagana, dance recital and variety cultural programmes, stated a press release.
