Mangalore Nov 13: Union minister of state for labour and employment Oscar Fernandes was in the city here on Monday, Nov. 12 amidst the imbroglio over the exact date of starting of the Mangalore-Bangalore train service. Fernandes who is playing a major role in trying to sort out the said issue pacified that he would “go back and check out the problems, if any”
Speaking to media persons here, he clarified that the train services should have commenced on Nov 1, however it was delayed as the authorities of the railway safety commission wanted some more changes in the broad gauge. He assured that he would take the initiative and check out the present status once he returns back to the capital.
With regard to questions pertaining to the BJP-JD(S) coalition coming back to power in the State again, he did express his unhappiness over the matter. Fernandes rued that he felt disillusioned as now once again, the development projects of the State will come to a standstill with the same coalition coming to power.
However, he expressed the hope “I wish the progress of the State will not be hindered”. On a specific query pertaining to the stand of the party in this issue, he replied that all leaders in the Congress party had a unanimous opinion regarding any political development in the State.
Moreover pontificate on the party’s functioning he declared that “Everybody (party men) have their own duties. They will concentrate on performing them promptly,” he assured.
