Mangalore, Nov 12: MICROCON 2007, the 31st National Congress of Indian Association of Medical Microbiologists (IAMM) will be inaugurated on Thursday November 15 at Dr TMA Pai International Conventional centre here, said Dr C V Raghuveer, dean, Kasturba Medical College, at a press conference here on Monday November 12.
The conference will be inaugurated by Dr Ramdas M Pai, president and chancellor, Manipal University while Ananthakrishna, chairman of the Karnataka Bank Ltd, will be the chief guest.
Trade Fair will be inaugurated by Sambamurthy, chairman, Corporation Bank. HS Ballal, pro-chancellor, Manipal University will release the conference souvenir on the occasion. Conference logo will be released by Dr H Vinod Bhat, registrar, Manipal University and Dr HN Madhavan, president of IAMM, will preside over the function, Dr Raghuveer added.
The conference will be organized in order to enlighten the public of the importance about Medical Microbiology which is not fully realized. Experts from India and abroad will present their papers during the interactive sessions and about 450 papers will be presented on the various aspects and dimensions of Medical Microbiology, Shalini Shenoy M, organizing secretary of the conference added.
Continuum Medical Education (CME)s and work shops will be held prior to the national conference so as to provide an opportunity to experts and juniors to get exposed to nuances of Medical Microbiology. CMEs will focus on emerging infectious diseases that have been threatening mankind and to cast light on recent advances with special reference to perspectives in clinical Microbiology.
There will also be important guest lectures on parasitic infections, opportunistic infections, emerging enteric infections, nanotechnology and ethical issues in research to name a few.
Dr Shrikara Mallya, chairman and Dr Gopal Krishna Bhat, volunteer of the committee were present at the press conference.
