Pak Players Skip Uthappa's Birthday Party

Lucknow, Nov 12 (mb): Pakistani cricketers stayed away from the birthday party of Indian batsman Robin Uthappa here Sunday night, leaving room for speculations whether it had a connection with the on-field verbal duel between Gautam Gambhir and Shahid Afridi.

Heated arguments were exchanged between the two, when Gambhir was batting and Afridi bowing during the third ODI in Kanpur, which Pakistan lost by 46 runs.

The two teams arrived here at the Sahara Shahar after the match.

Indian players including skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni attended the party, organized at the main hall of the Sahara Shahar.

The Pakistani players went straight to their rooms after arriving here.

When asked about their absence, a senior Sahara official said that the players were very tired.

"They are here to relax and enjoy...they must have been very tired," he said.

Is it a very silly issue? But I doubt !!! If the visiting teams coming here in India to play game only and not to celebrate parties, then why all the wrongs being hurled between players, such as arguments and showing bad temper, etc.?

Building a good relationship is more important than playing a game and celebrations are part and ways of the same. If they are coming ONLY to play the game, let them play in a decent way without arguments with the opposition team.

To add to Mr Shaikh's comments, neither they are in India to instigate war of words when everything is going on smoothly.
