Don't need Ronaldo's advice on free-kicks: Gareth Bale

Toulouse (France), June 20 (IANS): Insisting that his style is very different from Cristiano Ronaldo, Wales midfielder Gareth Bale on Monday said he does not take the Portuguese football captain's advice when it comes to taking free-kicks.

Bale has netted twice from two free-kicks in the ongoing Euro 2016 and he could become the first ever footballer to score three in a single European Championship.

On the other hand, his Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo -- renowned for his powerful strikes -- has failed to find the target from five free-kick chances in the tourney, reported goal.com.

Asked if his success with the free-kicks was due to Ronaldo’s advice, Bale said: "No, not really. I do it my way. I like my own style."

"We obviously practise together in training but on different sides. It depends where I am on the pitch and what side."

The 26-year-old said he is glad that his practise in training is now paying off.

"I hit it slightly different depending where the ball is and how close you are. You always stand over them and think 'please just go in,' but it's not always the case."

"So it's nice to see the hard work pay off and see two go in so far," he added.
