Tumakuru, Jun 16: In an incident which occurred at Ajjenahalli near Tovinakere in Madhugiri taluk of Tumakuru district, a farmer committed suicide. His sister, who came to see him, suffered heart attack and lost her life instantly.

Rajanna (55) residing in his farm house in Ajjenahalalli had raised loan of three lac rupees from Karnataka Bank's Madhugiri branch. He was unable to repay the loan promptly as the crop last year was not good. He was afraid that the reputation of his family will be spoilt if people approach his house to recover the loan. Therefore, he chose to hang himself, reports said. A case of suicide was registered in Koratagere police station.

Rajanna's younger sister, Parvathamma, living at Lottahanumayyana Palya near Sira, came to pay last respects to her brother. However, the sight of her elder brother's mortal remains moved her so much that she suffered massive heart attack and collapsed on the spot.

The locals say that this brother-sister duo was very close to each other and therefore the sister was unable to bear the grief of her elder brother's death.

Koratagere police inspector, Muniraju, tahsildar, Ekesh Babu, and revenue inspector, Raju, visited the spot and consoled the family members.
