Puttur, Jun 14: "Janardhana Poojary is counted among the top leadership of the party. Compared to him, my stature is too short. I can never think of taking him to task," claimed former president of local block Congress, Kavu Hemanath Shetty.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday June 13, Shetty said that he had earlier spoken against Poojary with the specific purpose of clearing misconceptions in the minds of Congress workers. He added that the other purpose of his statements was to assert that party's policies and rules are uniformly applicable to all the activists including leaders.
"Several leaders have negatively reacted to my earlier utterances. Are those who are critical of my stand against Poojary prepared to justify the dressing down given by Poojary to our chief minister and ministers?" he wanted to know.
Hemanath claimed that as a sincere party worker, he had analyzed the stand taken by Poojary on various issues honestly, and that former union minister and MP, Veerappa Moily, had no role to play in it.
