Udupi, Jun 13: Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde took charge as the district BJP president here on Monday June 13 at town BJP office Kadiyali.
After receiving the honour, Mattaru said, “I will put my sincere effort in leading BJP in five constituencies in 2018 polls. The party has given me great opportunity and this has indeed increased my responsibility. BJP has proved its strength in recent panchayat level elections. I would like to remember late former home minister V S Acharya on this occasion.”
Former district BJP president Thingale Vikramarjauna Hegde handed over the charge to Mattar.
After handing over the charge, he said, “I had put my best efforts in making the party strong. There was difficulty in uniting BJP workers in the district especially in Kundapur. There is lot of confusions in people and I have tried to eliminate the misunderstanding during my tenure. BJP has become stronger in state after Yeddyurappa came to power.”
“Mattaru has a huge responsibility of make the BJP candidates win 150 seats in assembly elections. I will always be there to support and guide you,” he added.
Shyamala Kundar, Kutyaru Naveen Shetty, Ravi Amin were present.
