Kundapur, Jun 11: Pro-Hindu organizations and locals held protests at Goliangadi on Saturday, June 11 urging to vacate illegally constructed resort near Goliangadi. They alleged that illegal activities were going on in the resort.
“Kerala origin Joy has constructed luxury buildings and a private Resort at Hengavalli. He has acquired the nearby river and created an artificial island making the land of nearby people erode. The district administration has taken no action despite several complaints,” they said expressing anguish.
The protesters came walking in procession from Goliangadi market, protested at Goliangadi circle, and warned the district administration that they may have to take law in their hands if the officials do not act.
Karnataka Rakshana Vedike chief secretary Prasanna Kumar Shetty said, “It is sad that the district administration is silent despite complaints of illegal activities. Joy may have to go back the way he came.”
Zilla panchayat member Pratap Hegde speaking on the occasion said that the administration should wake up before people revolt.
Hindu organizations leader Vijayakumar Shetty alleged that influential businessman Francis George is a notorious Rowdy sheeter and has caused an atmosphere of panic in the area. “They conduct boating with DJ whole night, spoiling the sleep of local people. The officials should immediately arrest him and take action,” he said.
Taluk panchayt member Chandrashekar Hegde, Hengavalli panchayat former president Raghurama Shetty, Anti Resort campaigner Bhoja Madivala, Hindu Jagarana Vedike leader Dhananjaya, Girish Kundapura Vivekananda Yuva Vedike's Mithun Shetty and others submitted a request to police inspector Sunil Kumar.
