Mythriya Gowda - court keeps jail sentence in abeyance

Bengaluru, Jun 10: Actress, Mythriya Gowda, who had been sentenced by the magistrate court for allegedly assaulting a police constable on duty got temporary reprieve on Thursday June 9. The sessions court here suspended the jail sentence awarded to her by the magistrate court, besides granting her bail.

Mythriya, her sister, Supriya, as well as relatives, Roopa and Rekha, had been found guilty of he charge of assaulting a traffic police constable in 2011. The magistrate court had awarded jail sentence to them on May 13. While Mythriya, main accused, was sentenced to jail term of two years, the other three had been given one year jail term each. All of them were also ordered to pay fine.

Mythriya had approached the sessions court against the judgment of the lower court with an appeal. The court, which accepted the appeal, kept the sentences under suspension till the hearing in the case is completed in this court. It also granted bail to all the accused.
