Bantwal, Jun 10: Three auto rickshaws got involved in a serial accident near Netravati river bridge near Panemangalore on Thursday June 9. In this accident, all the three drivers suffered injuries.
Two among them, Jaffer (22) from Nanthur Shantinagara Mangaluru, and Muhammed Kabbur (20) from Kamaje in B Mooda village, were treated as outpatients. Abubakker (61) from Chikkmudnur Shantinagara in Puttur, who was driving the other auto rickshaw, suffered injuries to his hand. He has been admitted into a private hospital at Thumbay where he is being treated.
One of the auto rickshaws turned turtle in the accident while the front portion of the other one was badly damaged. The third one was being taken for building a new body. Its front portion was badly damaged.
It is not clear how the accident happened between three three-wheelers. Policemen said the accident would have occurred when they tried to overtake each other. All the three auto rickshaws were towed away and kept in the compound of the traffic police station at Melkar here.
After the accident, traffic on the highway was blocked for over an hour. Long queues of vehicles were formed on both sides of the highway as a result. As there was delay on the part of the traffic police ato arrive at the spot, locals tried to streamline the traffic by pushing the auto rickshaws aside before the arrival of policemen.
A case was registered in Melkar traffic station relating to this accident.
