Kolkata, June 8 (IANS): Tollygunge Agragami FC on Wednesday roped in Nigerian defender Kareem Omolaja for the upcoming edition of the 2016-17 Calcutta Football League (CFL).
Kareem is the first of the four foreigners signed by the club this season. The versatile footballer hailing from Lagos, was last seen in action when he turned up for Minerva Academy FC in the recently concluded I-League second division.
Playing for Minerva, the 26-year-old has displayed excellent form. Starting as a striker in several matches, Omolaja finished as the team’s top scorer with four goals.
“It feels great to be back in Kolkata, no matter wherever you go there is no match for the excitement of Calcutta Football League. I am thankful to Tollygunge Agragami for making me a part of their family," Omolaja said in a release.
"I think we have a very good side this year which can even challenge for the ultimate glory. Here in Tollygunge, I am looking to give everything I have for team’s benefit.”
The Nigerian has earlier plied his trade for clubs like Royal Wahingdoh, and Mohammedan Sporting.
