Kundapur, Jun 5: In two separate tragic road accidents in Kota police station limits on Saturday, June 4, two people lost their lives.
In an accident involving a car and Bicycle at Saligrama, the bicycle rider was killed. A bike hit a pedestrian at Thekkatte killing the pedestrian instantly.
The pedestrian was trying to cross the Thekkatte national highway when a speeding bike hit him throwing him on the road. The pedestrian died on the spot. Thekkatte resident Seetharama Shetty (81) is the deceased.
Seetharama Shetty, a resident near Thekkatte government school had worked for a company in Bhadravathi for several years. He had come home after retirement and was spending his time at home. He had gone to the nearby restaurant and was returning after buying eatables when the bike speeding from Udupi to Kundapur hit him. He has died on the spot after sustaining serious injuries to his head. He has left behind his wife, a son and a daughter.
A bicycle rider going for fishing in the morning as usual died after he was hit by a speeding car at Saligrama. The car with Kerala number plate was speeding from Udupi to Kundapur.
The incident occurred at Saligrama Gundmi. The deceased is Hanagarkatte Balkudru resident Krishna (45). Krishna had fallen with his bicycle on the tar road sustaining serious injuries to his head and other parts of the body.
Kota police have arrested car driver Mohammed Ibrahim. Police cases of both the accidents are registered in Kota police station.
