Mangaluru: Five Carmelite brothers pronounce final vows

Media Release

Mangaluru, Jun 1: It was a day of great joy and jubilation for the Carmelites on May 31 at 3.30 pm as they witnessed five young and energetic brothers pronouncing their religious vows for life at the Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte.

The rite of solemn profession animated by Fr Prakash D’Cunha OCD, was beautifully integrated in the Eucharistic celebration. Fr George Santhumayor the vicar provincial, exhorted the candidates to be ‘the beacons of Joy of the Gospel’.

The highlight of the ceremony was making the religious profession in the hands of the vicar provincial of the Carmelites, Fr George Santhumayor OCD.

Solemn profession is a religious ceremony in which the members pronounce the three evangelical counsels (poverty, chastity and obedience) for life after the thorough training of almost ten years and that marks the entry into the order as a full-pledged member.

With this the member shares everything in common with the other members of the Order.

The five young men who made their final profession are-Br Anthon Souz, Gundolli, Belgaum, Br Peter Pereira, Londa, Belgaum, Br Rayan Pinto, Permai, Mangalore, Br Wison D’Costa, Londa, Belgaum and Br Nelson Cardoza, Mira Road, Mumbai.

At the end of the mass there was a short felicitation programme.
