Bhatkal: One person arrested for hunting wild animal, four flee

Bhatkal, May 30: Bhatkal forest officials have arrested a person accused of hunting wild animals in Haduvalli forest area on Saturday, May 28. Four of his accomplices have escaped.

The arrested is Onibagilju resident Nagappa Erappa Naika. Those who fled are identified as Onibagilu residents Raju Erapa Naika, Sagar resident Sannayya Narayana Naika, Kurandoor resident Manjunatha Narayana Naika and Moorkodi resident Venkatesha Malla Naika.




The forest officers who reached after hearing gun shots found a male deer shot dead. The officials have seized a slicer. The forest officers have said that the gun used to shoot the animal is illegal.

The operation was conducted by RFO Ravindra, forest officer P D Nagekar, Ravi S, Santhosh Shetty, Mrithyunjaya and Hukkalappa under guidance from Bhatkal ACF Nandeesha Reddy. The forest officers have registered a case and are investigating.
