Video mocking Lata, Sachin: Sena, BJP seek action against AIB

Mumbai, May 30, PTI: The Shiv Sena and BJP today demanded action against AIB and comedian Tanmay Bhat for a video in which he allegedly mocked singing legend Lata Mangeshkar and cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.

The Sena asked Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to take stringent action against AIB and Bhat for allegedly seeking to vitiate social harmony through videos on Mangeshkar and Tendulkar.

Party leader Neelam Gorhe has written to Fadnavis seeking action against those behind the video which she alleged was made by people with "deranged mentality".

"Such people try to misuse the popularity of icons like Sachin and Lata tai for their own publicity," Gorhe told PTI.

"I have also written to Mumbai Police Commissioner seeking action against Tanmay Bhat and AIB," the Sena leader said.

Mumbai BJP president Ashish Shelar spoke to the Police Commissioner and requested that a police complaint be filed against Tanmay Bhat and AIB.

The MNS had also earlier said it will lodge an FIR against Tanmay and demanded that the video uploaded by him be removed immediately.

Titled "Sachin v/s Lata Civil War", Tanmay is seen in the video taking jibes at the 86-year-old melody queen and the 43-year-old cricketing legend.

Actors Anupam Kher, Riteish Deshmukh and Celina Jaitly had yesterday criticised Bhat for roasting Tendulkar and Mangeshkar, calling the video "not funny"

    Is this is called freedom of speech! If yes, then pardon me, I don't want like these freedoms where self sense doesn't prevails. instead of Sachin and Lata, this guy should have used his parents to compose this. People commenting supporting this should do self review. No one objects funny episodes which is in sosorry.in, because there is humour in that but not in this video. It happens only in my India. where in Kuwait royal family members jailed for insulting their uncle emir.

    What's wrong with it? Around the Globe they make Mickey out of great politician, celebrities
    (that includes film stars, sports personalities, journalists, writers,actors, musician etc you name it), who is Sachin Tendulkar? Does he deserve a Bharatha Rathana award? There is a highest sports award for sports personalities (who have contributed to the sports field) called "Arjun award", what contribution Sachin Tendulkar has made to the country other than play cricket, he is payed for that, Indian politician & public have gone mad.
    Grow up fellows fight for really serious issues faced by common man.
    Hope common sense prevails.

    There was some comedy show (In Life OK) where Menon used to be an anchor and Mandira Bedi used to be a judge. In that show most of the leading politicians including Mr. Modi was being imitated. It is not making fun but entertainment purpose. Even celebrities are not spared. What a big deal. Take it sportingly and laugh till you burst your stomach hurts or jaws start paining. Laughing is good for mental & physical health too. Enjoy and do not cry.

    Definitely you will comment otherwise.

    There is lady stand up comedian named Sugandha Mishra. She has mimicked Latha on a award function. It was so funny, still decent, even applauded by Latha herself.
