M’lore: MRPL Half-yearly Accounts Record Net Profit of Rs 700 Crore

Mangalore, Oct 30: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), has achieved a net profit of Rs 700 crore, during the half-yearly accounts ended on September 30, 2007, sources informed.

At the same time, the company has achieved a turn-over of Rs 17,347 crore and earned revenue of Rs 6.38 crore.

Award:

For the fourth year in succession, the Jawaharlal Nehru Centenary Energy Performance Award was presented to MRPL by the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas on September 20.  In recognition of the very high safety levels in MRPL, the company was conferred with Safety Awards by Oil Industry Safety Directorate (OISD) and also by Ministry of Labour & Employment on September 29.

MRPL has also received the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) accreditation and ISO/IEC 17025/2005 Certification.  This will enable any National and International Company to utilize the service of MRPL, for testing of petroleum and related products, stated in their press release.

MRPL has received ‘Energy efficient Unit’ Award 2007 from Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) for the third consecutive year. In September 2007, the Company co-hosted, along with Centre of High Technology (CHT), the Refinery technology Meet in Thiruvanthapuram (Kerala).  This conference brought refiners and technology suppliers in India and all around the world together, for sharing of information on new technologies and operating experience.

Marketing initiatives:

The Company has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with M/s SHELL India Pvt Limited on September 5, 2007 for sale and purchase of products, primarily MS  and HSD and sharing of infrastructure facilities, for a term of 4 years, from October 2007, extendable by an additional two years.  Shell and MRPL will also work towards achieving a high level of performance on health, safety, security and environment issues.

The Company has received permission from Airports Authority of India for supplying ATF to the aircrafts, through mobile fuellers at Mangalore Airport, said R S Sharma, Chairman of MRPL.
