Passsenger dies aboard Indigo Mumbai-Chennai flight

Mumbai, May 29 (NDTV): A passenger on a Mumbai-Chennai IndiGo flight died on board of cardiac arrest even before the flight took off on Saturday, an airline official said.

Ganesh Thapathi suffered a heart attack during the boarding process on the IndiGo flight 6e-279.

The crew on board immediately alerted the ground staff and quickly arranged a doctor to attend to the passenger while providing first aid and made an inflight announcement, declaring a medical emergency on-board.

In response, three passengers, who identified themselves as doctors, joined the IndiGo crew to administer all medical aid, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to Mr Thapathi.

Later, the airport doctor examined Mr Thapathi and declared him dead.

IndiGo said it ensured that Mr Thapathi received all necessary medical attention from its crew on board and the airport authorities and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved family.

The flight later left for its onward destination after a delay.
