Bengaluru, May 27: The state government, which was hell bent on removal of Upa Lokayukta, Justice B Adi, from his position, has faced another reverse. After the committee led by Justice Budihal reported that the charges levelled against Justice Adi were baseless, assembly speaker, Kagodu Thimmappa, has passed an order, ending the proposal to unseat the Upa Lokayukta.
In a ruling, Kagodu said that he has received the 316-page report of the committee led by Justice R B Budihal, and that on this basis, he has dropped further processes on the motion moved by Tanveer Sait and others in the assembly to remove Justice Adi as Upa Lokayukta of the state. It is gathered that the report has confirmed that the charges of misconduct levelled against the Upa Lokayukta were found to be false, and that the allegation of incapacity cast upon him was also found to be untrue. It confirmed that in cases where the Upa Lokayukta has worked beyond his jurisdiction was backed by public interest. It further found that charges of nepotism and misuse of position levelled against Justice Adi were also found to be unsubstantiated.
