Bengaluru, May 26: Even as rumours have been running thick and thin about JDS supremo, Deve Gowda's efforts to choose B M Farooq, brother of MLA, Mohiuddin Bava, as the party's candidate for Rajya Sabha, there is information that former Karnataka chief minister, H D Kumaraswamy, has brought up the name of noted philanthropist, writer and popular speaker, Sudha Murthy, as party candidate for this post.
Kumaraswamy's initiative has now given rise to discussions at a time when there is growing resentment against choosing people from outside the state for Rajya Sabha membership from the state. Sudha Murthy commands respect all over because of her contribution to the sectors like education and social service. She is a candidate who is generally acceptable. Being a part of Infosys empire, there are some technical aspects to be handled before she can foray into politics, it is gathered.
JDS state president, Kumaraswamy, stated that discussions are being held with Infosys founder, Narayana Murthy, to address these glitches. At the same time, he said that his party is expecting to get BJP support to get its second candidate elected to the legislative council.
