Udupi, Oct 29: Brahmavar Sugar factory has decided to sell 10 acres of land to pay the dues of the farmers and labourers said State Co-operative department general secretary Ravi Kumar here.
A special meeting was held in the DC's office where it was decided to hand over the factory to Ramany Group from Mumbai on a contract basis. It will be handed over in two months to Ramany Group and the proprietor of the group has agreed to keep a deposit of Rs 2.5 crore.
Before handing over the factory to any private party, there is a need to pay the dues of the labourers and the formers said the District Co-operative Federation president Krishna Hegde.
Varadaraj Shetty of Ramany Group said that if the authorities failed to hand over the land to Ramany Group, it would come out of the take-over proposal.
On this occasion DC Ponnuraj, State Apex Bank president M N Rajendra Kumar, MLC Pratapchandra Shetty, former minister Dr V S Acharya, MLA Raghupathy Bhat and zilla panchayat CEO Hemalata were present.
