Udupi, May 22: State-level Yuvajana Mela 2015-16 was inaugurated by district-in charge minister Vinay Kumar Sorake at town hall, Ajjarkad, here on Saturday, May 21.
The programme was organized under the aegis of district authority, zilla panchayat, youth empowerment and sports department, Karnataka State Yuva Sanghatan Okkoota, Bengaluru and district Yuva Sanghatana, Okkoota.
Addressing the gathering, minister for youth empowerment, sports and fisheries, Abhaychandra Jain said, “Youths must imbibe discipline in their life to succeed in life. This will help shape our behaviour and develop good personality.”
District in charge minister, Vinay Kumar Sorake said, “Yuvajana Mela is an open platform for rural youths to showcase their talents. Youths have to follow principles and values of national leaders like Swami Vivekananda. They should put their efforts in building the nation rather than involving in anti-national activities.”
Swami Vivekananda State Youth 2014-15 awards were given away to many for their dedicated service on the occasion.
The individual award winners were Lokesh D Tumkur, Shilpa from Raichur, Sunil Bahvikatti from Bidar, Andappa Gidappa Harogeri from Gadag, Muhmad Hasan N Sheikh from Uttarkannada, Lingaraju Nidavani Darwad, N Anil Kumar from Mandhya, Pratima from Tumakuru and SD OMkar Jain from Mysuru.
Two organisations that bagged the award were Jai Hind Samskritika and Krida Yuvaka Sangha, Haveri and Abhinaya Janapada Kala Sangha, Udupi.
The chief guests were Shivaprasad K, director sports department, Gananath Ekkar, Dinkar Babu, president, zilla panchayat Udupi, Priyanka Mary Francis, CEO of ZP, Balaji, secretary, Yuva sanghatan okkoota, Manohar Kundar, district president and others present.
Dr Roshan, assistant director, district youth empowerment and sports department welcomed the gathering.
Dinkar Hegde delivered vote of thanks.
