Singapore, May 20 (IANS): Thailand’s Kiradech Aphibarnrat was on Friday named the Hilton Asian Tour golfer of the month for April, thanks largely to his commendable performance at the Masters Tournament.
Kiradech fired a final round two-under 70 to finish tied for 15th, which was also his best finish yet in a Major championship.
It was a debut to remember for the 2013 Asian Tour Order of Merit champion, who earned his place in the year's opening Major after finishing in the top-50 of the Official World Golf Ranking at the end of last season.
“My results at the Masters showed that my game has improved and I can play against the best. Winning the Hilton Asian Tour Golfer of the Month is a huge bonus and motivation to do even better. Thanks to all my fans who have voted for me,” said Kiradech in an Asian Tour release.
Kiradech won the award ahead of Koreans Soomin Lee and K.T. Kim where the trio were nominated by a selection panel before going into a voting process.
Kiradech is the second Thai to win the Hilton Asian Tour Golfer of the Month award after compatriot Thongchai Jaidee swept the award in November last year.
