Madrid, May 20 (IANS): Atletico Madrid's Portuguese midfielder Tiago Mendes said the Champions League football final against cross-town football rivals Real Madrid on May 28 in Milan will be "the most important" game of his life.
"The most important match of my life, a very important match for us, and the truth is that I feel increasingly better," Tiago said on Thursday, according to his club's official website, reports Efe.
"And I am calm, because the truth is that the team is very well and, of course, we have these two weeks to work well to get to that final and win it."
After renewing his contract on Thursday, the Portuguese player said he is "very pleased to be able to stay another year in this great club, be with this family, with these players."
Tiago noted that the fans "are always with us", adding that "the truth is that this year we have been able to be very close to Barcelona and Real Madrid until the end of the league. We are in the final of the Champions League and, for them, it is also a dream to live this".
