Bantwal, May 16: Police have arrested a Chikkaballapur origin ganja peddler with Rs 1 lac worth Ganja at Kadegoli on Sunday morning, May 15 and seized 1.230 kilograms ganja from him. The arrested suspect is
a Chintamani taluk Doddahalli resident, Suresh. Bantwal rural police on inspection duty in the morning of May 15 arrested him.
Suresh, on seeing the police tried to flee. The police who stopped and questioned him, found ganja with him. It is said that he has been bringing ganja for sale to Maripalla, Kadegoli, Thumbe, Melkar and Farangipete of Bantwal taluk. A network of ganja peddlers is said to be working with him. The court has ordered for his 15 days judicial custody. Bantwal rural sub-inspector Rakshit Gowda, head constable Janardan, Lokesh, constable Suresh, Nazir and driver Pravin participated in the operation.
Complaints that Ganja is being sold at Maripalla could be heard often. Ganja mafia is said to be behind murders, attempted murders and assaults in the area. The arrest of Suresh disclosed that people from outside are supplying ganja here. Police need to be alert from now on.
