Mangaluru, May 10: Urging strict action against the officials responsible for the current drinking water problem, the Tulu Nadu Rakshana Vedike staged a protest in front of Mangaluru City corporation (MCC), here on Tuesday May 10.
Addressing the gathered, president, Yogish Shetty Jeppu said, “The current situation of drinking water problem is the result of irresponsibility of the MCC officials and engineers.”
“This land was called as the land of prosperity due to the lakes and other resources. But today people have to drink dirty water due o the lack of clean drinking water and falling sick,” he said.
“The engineers and officials knew about this but they were careless when they had to act. There is no one to answer the phone which is reserved to address the water issues.”
“Today the industries have stopped working and hotels and hostels have been shut due to the lack of water. Large industries have stored the water due to which there is no drinking water for the common man.”
“The officials must register the case against the industries which have stored water for their use. Strict action has to be taken against MCC officials so that the present situation is not repeated in future,” he added.
Office bears of the Vedike Prashanth Kadaba, J Ibrahim, Anand Adyar, Shashidhar Shetty and others were present.
