Lahore, May 9 (IANS): In a bid to encourage budding players, the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) will hold the first Pakistan Hockey League (PHL) following the success of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Announcing this, PHF Director Development and Domestic Naveed Alam said that apart from PHL, many tournaments which will focus specifically on developing the youth have been added to the calendar.
"The preparations for holding the PHL in Pakistan are in the pipeline and the progress is encouraging," Alam was quoted as saying by the Express Tribune.
"The calendar not only includes the senior and junior teams' international assignments but domestic events, designed specifically to develop younger players as well," he added.
PHF secretary Shahbaz Senior, who expects a lot of international participation for the PHL, said the federation was open to host the tournament in a neutral venue if it fails to hold in Pakistan.
