Rio de Janeiro, May 6 (IANS): Carlos Tevez scored his fifth goal in eight matches as six-time champions Boca Juniors advanced to the Copa Libertadores quarterfinals with a 3-1 victory over Cerro Porteno.
The result at Boca's Bombonera stadium gave the Argentine outfit a 5-2 aggregate victory in the two-legged round of 16 clash on Thursday, reports Xinhua.
Tevez opened the scoring in the fourth minute before Cristian Pavon and Pablo Perez added two more for the hosts after halftime.
Rodrigo Rojas was on the scoresheet for the Paraguayan outfit, who were reduced to 10 men four minutes from time when Bruno Valdez was shown a second yellow card.
In Thursday's only other match, Argentina's Rosario Central beat Gremio 3-0 at home to eliminate the Brazilian side 4-0 on aggregate.
The Copa Libertadores is Latin America's top club competition, comprising teams from South America and Mexico.
