Panaji, May 6 (IANS): FC Goa team management has expressed "surprise and shock" at the Rs.11 crore fine and the ban on FC Goa co-owners Dattaraj Salgaocar and Srinivas Dempo to three and two years respectively on disciplinary grounds by the Indian Super League Regulatory Commission on Thursday.
A statement issued by the co-owners of FC Goa late on Thursday said: "We are surprised and shocked with the order as ISL was to decide on the application of jurisdiction and not to proceed on the hearing as AIFF which is the supreme body directed to maintain status quo on March 31. We are studying the order and considering all options before us."
The Goa-based team is facing disciplinary action following their boycott of the presentation ceremony after the ISL season two final against Chennaiyin FC in December last year, in which the latter won 3-2.
A scuffle between Salgaocar and Chennaiyin star player Elano also led to the arrest of the player, after the former filed a police complaint.
Fresh video footage has revealed that Elano did not provoke FC Goa players and Salgaocar, as alleged by the latter in his complaint to the Goa Police.
