Bengaluru, May 5: State Congress Vice-President and former Minister B K Chandrashekar on Thursday criticised the State Government’s decision to hand over Venkatappa Art Gallery (VAG) to the private foundation, Tasveer Foundation, for adoption under the Corporate Social Responsibility.

Addressing presspersons here, Chandrashekar suggested to the State Government not to hand over the management of the gallery to the private foundation which would adversely affect the interest of artists.

Privatisation of VAG by the Tourism Department was not in the interest of public good, he said.

The Congress leader welcomed the National Green Tribunal verdict which aimed at protection of lakes and water bodies in and around Bengaluru.
